Agriculture for Today and Tomorrow TV Programme. June 2024 – Till date

This a media-for-development initiative of the Growth for Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (GSAI) designed to leverage the power of television and digital media to educate, inform, and inspire audiences on emerging agricultural trends, opportunities, and innovations across Africa. The programme serves as a platform for bridging the gap between agricultural knowledge and the public by making complex agricultural issues accessible to farmers, youth, agripreneurs, policymakers, investors, and development stakeholders.

Better Farmers Training Project (Batch 2), March 31st – April 20th 2026, Virtual.

The Better Farmers Training Project (Virtual) – Batch 2 was a 3weeks virtual capacity development project designed to strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers, agripreneurs, and agricultural stakeholders across Africa by providing practical knowledge and skills for sustainable and profitable farming. Through this virtual learning initiative, over 1,000 participants from multiple African countries enrolled in a comprehensive training program, with 380 participants successfully completing the program and earning certificates.

The African Agriculture Investment Summit 2025 convened policymakers, investors, agribusiness leaders, development partners, and youth advocates to advance sustainable agricultural investment across Africa. Under the theme, “Empowering African Youth Through Agricultural Investment Cooperatives,” the summit served as a strategic platform for dialogue, partnership building, and knowledge exchange aimed at accelerating agricultural transformation, economic inclusion, and youth empowerment across the continent.

The successful hosting of the summit was made possible through partnership support from Daesbla Agro Industries Ltd, The Ebaidebheki Initiative, and the Female Journalists Network, whose collaboration strengthened stakeholder engagement and expanded the reach and impact of the event.

Better Farmers Training Project (Batch 1), 19th November – 6th December 2025, virtual

The Better Farmers Training Project (Batch 1) equipped farmers and agripreneurs with practical skills in Digital Agriculture & Agribusiness Management and Integrated Pest Management for Crop and Animal Farms. The program attracted over 1,800 participants, with more than 350 successfully earning certification. The initiative was implemented with support from Agrovest App, SustainaEQ Solutions, Daesbla Agro Industries Ltd, Female Journalists Network Nigeria, and The Ebaidebheki Initiative.

NIGERIA FARMERS TOWN HALL SUMMIT (NIFATS 1.0), 28th June 2025, Abuja Nigeria

The Nigeria Farmers Town Hall Summit (NIFATS 1.0), held at Barcelona Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja, brought together over 300 farmers and agricultural stakeholders from across Nigeria under the theme “Safe Farms, Safe Food: Science for a Healthier Nigeria.” The summit served as a national platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collective action on food safety, sustainable agriculture, and strengthening Nigeria’s food systems.

The summit was successfully delivered through partnerships with FarmFam App, AFEX, SustainanEQ Solutions, GCDAI, IDYs Farm, Daesbla Agro Industries Ltd, Female Journalists Network Nigeria, and The Ebaidebheki Initiative.

2025 World Food Safety Day Commemoration, 6th may – 21st June, 2025, Nigeria wide

To commemorate World Food Safety Day 2025, GSAI implemented a nationwide capacity development initiative to strengthen food safety awareness and compliance among Nigerian farmers. Through an 8-week virtual Farm Food Safety Compliance Training, over 3,000 participants were trained, with 638 farmers successfully completing the program and earning certification. The project also included a practical food safety farm tour to CSS Integrated Farms, Nasarawa State, where 38 young farmers gained hands-on exposure to integrated farming systems operating in line with international food safety standards. The initiative enhanced farmers’ knowledge of safe food production practices and promoted a culture of food safety across agricultural value chains nationwide.

The project was successfully delivered through partnerships with Faculty of Agriculture, Akwa Ibom State University, Soilless farm lab, FarmFam App, SustainanEQ Solutions, Daesbla Agro Industries Ltd, Female Journalists Network Nigeria, and The Ebaidebheki Initiative.

10,000 Yam Heaps Cultivation Project, March to December 2025, Kubwa, Abuja

Implemented between March and December 2025 in Chikakore Community, Kubwa, Abuja, the 10,000 Yam Heaps Cultivation Project was designed to demonstrate climate-smart, sustainable crop production while improving rural livelihoods. Working with 12 rural farmers and supported by 4 private funding partners, the project mobilized ₦7,000,000 in funding for implementation.
Although the initial target of 10,000 yam heaps was affected by operational and environmental challenges, the project successfully established 5,620 yam heaps, 2,800 sweet potato heaps (800 ground heaps and 2,000 sack heaps), and one plot of white maize using sustainable practices such as intercropping, co-dependent staking, and integrated pest management. At harvest, the project produced and sold 3,230 yam tubers, 1 tonne of sweet potatoes, and 3 bags of white maize grain, generating income for participating farmers while demonstrating the effectiveness of climate-smart farming approaches. The project strengthened local farming capacity and provided practical evidence of sustainable agricultural production systems for smallholder farmers.

Green Careers Advocacy Project, 23rd November 2023 – 30th April 2024, Kaduna state Nigeria and virtual

This was the inaugural initiative of the Growth for Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (GSAI), designed to expand awareness of the diverse and emerging career opportunities within the agricultural sector among young Nigerians. Through a combination of physical and virtual capacity-building activities, the project introduced students and young professionals to innovative pathways in agribusiness, agricultural technology, sustainability, and rural development. A key component of the project was a physical training session held on 23 November 2023 for final-year students of the Faculty of Agriculture at Kaduna State University (Kafanchan Campus). This was complemented by two national webinar sessions, the first held on 22 December 2023 with 50 participants, and the second on 30 April 2024 with 92 participants. Collectively, these engagements provided participants with practical insights, mentorship opportunities, and guidance on building impactful careers within the agricultural sector.

Digital Skills for Sustainable Agriculture Project, 24th November 2023, Kaduna State, Nigeria.

The Digital Skills for Sustainable Agriculture Project was a targeted capacity-building initiative aimed at equipping rural farmers with practical digital tools for improved farm management and resource mobilization. Held on 24 November 2023 under the theme “Utilising Digital Resources for Farm Records and Resource Mobilization,” the workshop brought together 32 farmers and was supported by 6 volunteers from Kafanchan, Kaduna State, and surrounding communities. Hosted at the Kaduna State University Lecture Theatre (Kafanchan Campus), the training introduced participants to digital approaches for record keeping, farm data management, accessing agricultural opportunities, and leveraging online resources to support farm growth and sustainability. The project enhanced participants’ capacity to integrate technology into their farming operations, improving efficiency, decision-making, and access to information.
The successful implementation of the workshop was made possible through partnerships with Agro Marketing Cooperative Society, Daesbla Agro Industries Ltd, and Verde Stratum Nigeria Ltd.
